A brake disc is located in a wind turbine which makes sure that the turbine is slowed down at the moment maintenance has te down. Here it is necessary that the turbine stops turning. It is important that the brake discs in the wind turbine are always working and do not get overheated. Otherwise this could lead to (severe) accidents. By performing temperature measurements of the brake discs this should be monitored.

The i-TecMini OEM is a pyrometer which is specially suited for machine builders. This pyrometer is suitable for performing a temperature measurement of the brake discs in a wind turbine. The sensor is right-angled which gives more mounting possibilities in the limited spaces in the wind turbine. The OEM measures temperatures between -20°C up to 500°C and has a 4-20mA or a 0-10 V switching output. The brake disc should be painted, which makes it non-reflective and the temperature measurement the most reliable.
